(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team suffered a 124-79 setback to defending Centennial Conference Champion, Ursinus College, in the 2015-16 season opener on Saturday afternoon in Collegeville. The Bears posted wins in seven events on the way to the season opening win.
First-year Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) had a great start to her collegiate career, posting a pair of wins in the distance events. She touched the wall first in the 1000 with a time of 10:44.15 and captured the 500 in 5:15.39.
Classmate Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./Breck School) won her first collegiate race, claiming the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:12.60.
Sophomore Brenna Nimkoff (Weston, Conn./Weston) finished second behind Lyman in both the 1000 and 500, posting times of 11:01.10 and 5:23.33.
Senior Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) added a pair of second place showing as well, clocking times of 55.22 and 2:00.77 in the 100 and 200 freestyle events. She swam the lead leg of the winning 400 free relay.
Junior Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) placed third in the 100 individual medley (1:04.19) and the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:35.29.
Junior Tanita Leary (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) joined first-years Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) on the 400 free relay, combining for a time of 3:48.68.
The Red Devils are in action again next Friday night, traveling to Bloomsburg University for a 7:00 pm start.
