Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team went on a big run in the second half on the way to a 67-48 win over visiting Haverford College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils got off to a quick start with sophomore Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) scoring first followed by three free throws from senior Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) for a 5-0 advantage.
Matt Sherman hit a three-pointer to tie the game at five and later hit another to five the 'Fords a 13-11 lead with 11:21 to play in the first half. Younger brother Corey Sherman (Penn Valley, Pa./Lower Marion) answered with a three on the other end to put the Devils back in front.
That triggered a 13-2 run for the Devils to put them up, 24-15, with 5:02 remaining in the half. Angradi and Romocki connected on back-to-back three-pointers during the run with senior Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) adding a pair of lay-ups.
Haverford closed out the half with a 6-0 clip with Sherman scoring twice to end the half with Dickinson leading 24-21.
Joe Scibelli hit a pair of free throws to start the second half before Romocki threw down the first of three dunks in the second half.
Hinnenkamp sank two free throws to give Dickinson a 31-25 lead with 15:06 on the clock. Haverford pulled within one before Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) scored, grabbed a rebound and fed Romocki for another rim-rattling dunk for a 35-30 lead.
Haverford cut the deficit to a field-goal before Angradi caught fire and drained three straight three-pointers to extend the margin to 11. The 'Fords cut it to single-digits but then a 15-4 run for Dickinson put the Devils up 20, with 3:28 to play in the game.
Romocki and Angradi tallied three-pointers in the run while Romocki added his third throw down and Hinnenkamp added four free throws and a pair of assists.
Matt Sherman finished with 18 points while Kahill Garnes chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds as Haverford falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference.
Angradi hit five three-pointers on the way to 18 points, handing out a pair of assists. Hinnenkamp recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 7-of-8 free throws to go with four assists and two blocked shots.
Romocki hit 7-of-10 field-goals for 16 points, adding three rebounds a block and a steal. Melton finished with eight points and seven rebounds, blocking three shots and making three steals. The Red Devils combined for 11 blocked shots on the night after recording eight against Gettysburg on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils improve to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are home next Friday night, hosting Catholic University at 7:00 pm.
