(Reading, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team improved to 4-1-1 on the season, scoring three goals in the second half at Alvernia University on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils were dominate in the first half, holding a 13-1 shot advantage while forcing four corners. Alvernia goalkeeper Jessica Plunkett made three saves in the first half and turned away six after the break.
Senior Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) put a shot inside the far post to put Dickinson on the board in the 51st minute. First-year Samantha Knapp (Washington, D.C./CESJDS) tallied just over eight minutes later to give the Devils a 2-0 advantage with 31 minutes remaining.
Lamb found the net for the second time, scoring her fifth of the season, off an assist from first-year Caroline Price (Allenhurst, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) with just over a minute to play in the match.
Plunkett finished with nine saves on the night as the Crusaders fall to 2-5.
Senior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate-Rosemary Hall) made a save in each half to secure the shutout.
The Red Devils open Centennial Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Haverford College for a 1:00 pm start.
