(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson junior Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, Pa./Ardsley) tied a school record with 10 service aces to lead the Red Devil women's volleyball team to a decisive 3-0 victory over visiting Albright College on Wednesday night.
Misrok tied the mark, set by Shauna Bauers '01, also against Albright, in 2001. As a team the Red Devils served up 16 aces on the night, gaining separation in the middle of all three sets to claim the match, their second straight win in the Kline Center.
Dickinson put together a run to pull in front, 14-6, in the first set, forcing an Albright timeout. The Devils stretched the margin to 22-14 on the way to a 25-18 win to take a 1-0 lead.
They went on an 8-2 run in the second to quickly pull in front, 25-15. Misrok served four straight aces to give the hosts a 19-9 lead in the set. She almost repeated the trick in the third set with three straight, recording aces on 4-of-5 straight points to put Dickinson up, 14-5.
Albright tried to rally late and force a fourth game but the Devils closed out the match by taking the set, 25-17.
Sophomore middle Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) led the attack with 10 kills and four blocks, adding a pair of aces as well. Classmate Lauren Beecher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) gave the Devils a strong start, recording six kills in the opening set while Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) led the way in the third with five.
Senior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) added seven kills while sister, Hannah Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor), tallied a match-high 23 assists, adding six digs and a pair of aces. Misrok finished with a double-double, recording 14 digs to go with her 10 aces.
The Red Devils improve to 4-7 overall. They travel to Haverford College on Saturday for the Centennial Conference opener. They will also face Messiah College at Haverford as well.
