(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team played to a double-overtime tie with #23-ranked Haverford College on Saturday afternoon, in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
The game was relatively even throughout the match with each team only recording five shots in the first half. Senior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate-Rosemary Hall) turned away a pair of shots on net in the first half while Kathy Prescott made three saves for Haverford.
The Red Devils took the lead in the 61st minute as senior Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) slipped a shot inside the far post, scoring off a cross from Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville).
The 'Fords answered just six minutes later when Ali Lopez found an opening to finish an assist from Skyler Ellenburg with 25 minutes to play in regulation. Haverford threatened with a pair of corners in the final five minutes, but the Devil defense was able to hold and force overtime.
Dickinson put a pair of shots on goal in the first overtime but Prescott came away with two saves. The Devils tallied the only three shots in the second extra-frame but could not net the game-winner.
Dickinson edge the 'Fords in shots, 17-15, and corners, 7-6. Prescott finished the match with seven saves while Armour tallied four on the day.
Haverford moves to 4-0-1 and 0-0-1 in the Centennial Conference while the Red Devils slip to 4-1-2 on the year and also start 0-0-1 in the CC.
The Red Devils travel to Swarthmore College next Saturday night for a 7:00 pm kick-off.
