(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team had a tough outing against the top team in the nation as visiting Messiah College posted a 9-0 win here on Wednesday night at Miller Memorial Field.
The Red Devils managed the potent Falcon attack in the first half, allowing just three goals. Messiah put two goals on the board quickly, however, scoring just 5:45 into the match, and again just over a minute later.
Junior Marissa Weaver played a role on both goals, scoring the first and assisting senior Kyele Bridel on the second. Bridal struck again in the 28th minute, this finishing an assist from Nikki Elsaisser.
Bridal tacked on another, 10 minutes into the second half for a natural hat-trick, extending the lead to 4-0. The Falcons erupted with six goals in the second half as they improve to 7-0-1 on the season.
Messiah held a 24-3 shot advantage and forced eight corners while not allowing any on the defensive end.
Senior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate-Rosemary Hall) made seven saves on the night for the Red Devils.
Dickinson is home again on Saturday, returning to Centennial Conference action, hosting Muhlenberg College at 1:00 pm.
