Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team came in to Tuesday night's Centennial Conference match-up with Ursinus ready for a battle, and came out on top 69-63, behind five three-pointers and a game-high 20 points from senior guard Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley).
The Bears jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, looking to feed the ball inside to sophomore Joe LoStracco. Senior Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) triggered a run and fed first-year Michael Jurzynski (Pearl River, N.Y./The Master's School) on his second straight field-goal to cut the deficit to a field-goal, 13-11, with 12:34 to play in the half.
A 16-3 run stretched the Ursinus lead to 15 with three minutes remaining. Hinnenkamp followed up a pair of Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) free throws with a pair of field-goals to close out the half, cutting the deficit to 29-20, at the break.
The Red Devils came out on fire to start the second half as they were dialed in from three-point land. Angradi started things off with a pull-up triple off a steal that would lead to four three-pointers in the first four minutes of the second half.
Sophomore Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) buried a three before Angradi knocked down two more to put Dickinson on top, 32-29, with 16:19 remaining in the game.
Malik Draper broke up the run, but Angradi was fouled on another long range attempt and hit a trio of free throws for a 35-31 advantage. Remi Janicot cut the lead to a field-goal with two free throws at the 12:17 mark.
Angradi banged another three-pointer and the Devils would lead by at lead five for the better part of the final 10 minutes. Matt Williams hit a three-pointer to cut the margin to four but Angradi immediately answered on the other end. He hit his final triple of the night at the 6:44 mark, putting the Devils up by nine.
Jule Brown (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) and Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) gave the Devils strong minutes down the stretch while sophomore guard Chris McNeal (Collegeville, Pa./Episcopal Academy) turned in a solid performance as well.
Janicot led the Bears (6-7, 2-4) with 14 points and 11 rebounds, hitting 10-of-11 free throws on the night.
Angradi finished with 20 points, hitting 5-of-9 three-pointers. Hinnenkamp added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds to go with six assists, three steals and three blocked shots.
Brown reached double-figures with 10 points, adding four steals and three rebounds while Melton was on his way to a double-double with nine points and seven rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 4-9 overall and pull even in the Centennial Conference at 3-3. They travel to Swarthmore College on Thursday night, then return east to face Haverford College on Saturday afternoon.
