Box Score (Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team claimed a 73-54, Centennial Conference win on Saturday, turning in a strong performance on the road at Haverford.
The Red Devils jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead behind a jumper from Jule Brown (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) and back-to-back lay-ups from senior Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban).
The 'Fords pulled even at 6-6 and the teams went back-and-forth to a 12-12 tie. Haverford took a 14-12 lead at the 10:48 mark, but the Red Devils would answer with a 13-0 run to lead by 11 with 4:29 to play in the first half.
Five different players scored over the course of the run seniors Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Hinnenkamp closing out the stretch with a three-pointer and a lay-up, respectively.
Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) broke up a late rally by the 'Fords as Dickinson held a 27-18 advantage into the break.
Brown and Hinnenkamp started things off again to open the second half, stretching the Red Devils' lead back to 14. Kyle Goldfarb hit back-to-back jumpers and Joe Scibelli hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit in half.
Stenger came back and traded three-pointers with Anthony Reyes before another Red Devil run put Dickinson on top, 43-28, with 13:39 remaining.
Junior Robert Picka (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) caught fire, scoring four straight for Dickinson and Angradi buried a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 20, with 6:34 on the clock. First-year Corey Sherman (Penn Valley, Pa./Lower Merion) sank back-to-back three's to make the score 68-42.
First-year Nick Kelly (Wayne, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) hit a three-pointer to give Dickinson its largest lead at 27. The 'Fords ended the game with a 10-2 run for the final of 73-54.
Scibelli led Haverford (2-12, 0-8 CC) with 15 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Goldfarb and Reyes both reached double-figures as well, scoring 13 and 11, respectively.
Hinnenkamp led the Red Devils with a game-high 19 points, adding nine rebounds and five assists on 8-of-12 shooting. Picka tallied 10 points and seven rebounds to go with a pair of blocked shots. Angraid added eight points and seven rebounds while Brown finished with eight points, six rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots.
The Red Devils improve to 5-10 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday night. Opening tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
