(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team opened the 2016 season on Saturday, suffering a 115-90 setback to defending Centennial Conference champion, Ursinus College.
Sophomore Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) had a strong start, posting a triple-win afternoon. She captured the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:37.49 and 5:16.45, respectively, and won the 200 free with a mark of 1:58.32.
Junior Brenna Nimkoff (Weston, Conn./Weston) placed second in the 1000 free (11:17.15) and third in the 500 (5:33.59).
Senior Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) had three second-place finishes on the day. She placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:19.41) and the 200 breaststroke (2:37.12), and swam with the second place 400 medley relay for a time of 4:06.26.
First-year Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) claimed a gold and two silvers in her collegiate debut. She won the 200 butterfly (2:11.17) and placed second in the 400 medley and 400 free relay. Sophomore Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./Breck School) added a win and two seconds as well. She captured the 200 backstroke (2:11.14) and joined both second-place relays as well.
Senior Emily Houser (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) swam to third in the 100 freestyle (56.38) and anchored the medley relay while Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) was fourth in the 100 free (57.83) and anchored the free relay.
The Red Devils travel to the McDonogh School on Saturday for a tri-meet with Lycoming College and Stevenson University. Start time is set for 2:00 pm.
