Romocki, Red Devils Return to Form

Box Score

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team almost reversed the score from the teams' first meeting, posting a 78-61 win at Gettysburg College on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) returned to form and scored 15 points in the second half. He finished with 20, hitting his first six shots and going 7-for-8 from the floor and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

The teams traded baskets early on, playing to a 16-16 tie at the midpoint of the half. The Bullets pulled in front 16-10, before back-to-back three-pointers from Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) tied the game.

The Devils scored back-to-back but Tanner Kirkpatrick hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to one. Romocki came back with the first of his five three-pointers and Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) hit a jumper to stretch the margin to 25-20.

Gettysburg put together a 7-1 run to lead at the half, 27-26. The Red Devils held a 17-6 advantage in points off turnovers, forcing 11 in the half.

The Red Devils would take control after the break, shooting a remarkable 66.7 percent (20-30) in the second half, knocking down 8-of-13 three-pointers, hitting 61.5 percent of those attempts.

Gettysburg built the lead to six to start the second half, but the Devils would turn the tables, triggered by a lay-up from Hinnenkamp and a steal and dunk by Jule Brown (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion).

The Bullets would stay with the Devils momentarily, but the lights-out shooting would give Dickinson some separation at the midpoint of the half.

Romocki and Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) hit three-pointers to knot the game at 40, with 15:43 remaining. The Bullets scored back-to-back before Hinnenkamp scored twice around a lay-up from Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) to regain the lead for Dickinson.

Angradi and Romocki hit three-pointers to stretch the lead to eight. Kirkpatrick finished a three-point play in one final push for the Bullets. The Devils would build on the lead down the stretch, going up 18 on an Angradi three with 3:26 left to play.

Dickinson scored on six straight and 10 of its final 12 possessions on the night for the final of 78-61.

Hinnenkamp led all scorers with 22, edging Romocki by a field-goal. He grabbed five rebounds and added two assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Angradi hit four three-pointers for 12 points and Hinckley reached double-figures with 10 points to go with six rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Brown dished out six assists, adding five points, two rebounds and two steals. Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) chipped in with five rebounds, four points, two assist and a pair of steals.

Kevin Gladstone led Gettysburg (15-7, 10-5 CC) with 16 points and seven rebounds.
