Red Devils Grind Past Green Terror 73-66

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team survived a hard-fought contest on Tuesday night, powering past visiting McDaniel College, 73-66, in a key Centennial Conference match-up. The Red Devils moved into the pivotal five spot in the conference standings at 6-6, overtaking the Green Terror, who fall to 6-7 and 9-10 overall.

Senior Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) knocked-down a three-pointer to start the game. The teams battled evenly, playing to a 13-13 tie, with 12:18 remaining in the first half.

Angradi capped a 10-2 run with a lay-up, two free throws and a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 11, with 6:21 to play. Angradi combined with first-year Nick Kelly (Wayne, Pa./Mercersburg Acadmey) to hit back-to-back three's, putting Dickinson on top, 36-26, at the break.

McDaniel cut the deficit to six to start the second half. The Red Devils countered with a 7-0 run to take a 48-35 lead with 15:41 left in the game. The teams went back-and-forth as the lead hovered around 10 for a solid six minute stretch.

Senior Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) converted a three-point play and later knocked down a three-pointer to put Dickinson in front, 51-40, with 13:23 left to play.

McDaniel chipped away, cutting the deficit to just one on Wes Brooks three-pointer with seven minutes on the clock. Angradi sank a three-pointer but Tim Stewart would answer with back-to-back lay-ups to tie the game at 58, with 4:37 on the clock.

Stewart traded free throws with first-year Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) and Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) scored for a 62-60 lead.

Josh McWilliams hit a three-pointer but Hinnenkamp would hit a jumper to quickly put the lead back in the hands of the Red Devils. Hinckley grabbed a rebound and hit two from the charity stripe for a three-point advantage.

Hinckley converted a nice spin move in the lane to lead 68-63 but the Terror kept the pressure on with a three-pointer from Stewart. Hinnenkamp and Angradi would close out the game with free throws for the final of 73-66.

Stewart finished with 33 points and 17 rebounds to lead the way for McDaniel.

Angradi sank five three-pointers to finish with 23 points while Hinnenkamp tallied 16 points and seven rebounds to go with a pair of blocks. Hinckley reached double-figures with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jule Brown (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) tallied eight points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Wright scored eight points as well, adding three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals. Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Robert Picka (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) each grabbed seven rebounds while Stenger also dished out three assists.

The Red Devils (7-12, 6-6 CC) are on the road this weekend, traveling to Washington College for a 4:00 pm tip-off on Saturday.
