Box Score (Bethlehem, Pa.) – The Dickinson football team suffered another tough loss on Saturday as host Moravian College scored a pair of second half touchdowns to post a 24-10 win over the Red Devils.
Moravian put 10 points in the board in the first quarter. They struck first on their first possession with a 27-yard field-goal from Kenny Kane, with 7:07 on the clock. The Greyhounds used 16 plays to move 85 yards, capped by a one-yard run from Jorden Stout, with 1:57 to play in the quarter to go up, 10-0.
Sophomore quarterback Billy Burger (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) capped a 68-yard drive with a four yard touchdown pass to tight-end Ryan McMahon (Holbrook, Mass./Archbishop Williams) with 8:48 remaining in the half. Burger led the Red Devils 71 yards in less than a minute to set up a 24-yard field-goal by sophomore Stephen Walker (Darien, Conn./Darien) to knot the game, 10-10, at half time as time expired.
Moravian went on front on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Mike Hayes to Aaron Hudson to finish a 72-yard drive, with 12:08 to play in the third quarter. Hayes orchestrated another long drive, early in the fourth quarter, throwing a 32-yard scoring strike to Liam Nolan at the 10:37 mark to put the Greyhounds on top, 24-10.
The Red Devils had two more drive to try and pull even. They failed to convert on a 4th-and-five from the Moravian 30, but forced a punt just four plays later. Burger moved the Devils to the Greyhound's five-yard line before an interception stalled the drive with 1:30 to play in the game.
Burger completed 24-of-38 passes for 288 yards on the day with sophomore Jake Walbert (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) making nine catches for 135 yards. Tyler Dowdle (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Balston Lake) and Darrion Bunce (Kelowa, B.C./Gunnery, Conn.) each covered 43 yards on three receptions.
Sophomore Tyler Heisey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the defensive effort with 11 tackles while Pat Irwin (Altoona, Pa./Archbishop Guilfoyle) and Jordan Hollander (Waverly, Pa./Abington Heights) each recorded nine stops.
Senior Kevin Sherry (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) returned to action, recording seven tackles, including two for losses and six-yard sack.
Moravian improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 0-4 and 0-3 in the conference. Dickinson returns home next Saturday for the Conestoga Wagon rivalry game with Franklin & Marshall. Opening kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Biddle Field.
