Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team had another strong outing on Saturday, despite a tough loss to visiting Swarthmore College. The Garnet has not lost a match since its season opener, extending its current winning streak to 11 straight with a 3-0 decision.
The Red Devils came out ready to play, giving Swarthmore all it could handle early on. Dickinson overcame a 12-9 deficit to pull in front, 17-13. The Garnet rallied and closed out the first set, 25-21.
The Devils had a solid start in the second as well, playing to a 6-6 tie. Swarthmore strung together five straight points and built on that lead to claim the second, 25-15.
Sarah Wallace and Rachel Vresilovic combined for seven kills in the third set to help Swarthmore finish the match with a 25-16 decision. Dickinson trailed just 12-10, but the Garnet again finished strong down the stretch for a 2-0 start in Centennial Conference play.
Wallace led the Garnet with 10 kills and six digs while Elise Cummings and Malia Scott combined for 26 assists.
Junior Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) led the Red Devils with 10 kills and seven digs. Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) combined for seven kills while first-year setter Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) tallied 17 assists.
Senior libero Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) recorded 16 digs and first-year Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) added six.
The Red Devils slip to 7-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference. They travel to Muhlenberg College on Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm match.
