Box Score 2 (Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday to go 2-2 overall at the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic. Senior Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Red Devils started off with a battle on Saturday morning, playing a five-set match with Greensboro College before falling, 3-2. The match was highly contested throughout with Dickinson claiming the opener, 27-25. Greensboro pulled even, 25-18, before the Red Devils regrouped for a 25-10 decision in the third set.
Greensboro countered with a 25-13 win to force a deciding fifth set and held on, 15-9, to capture the match.
Junior Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) had another strong outing, recording 11 kills and 19 digs. Junior Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) tallied 11 kills as well while adding three blocks.
Misrok served up four aces in the match to go with a team-high 26 digs. First-year setter Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) dished out 29 assists.
The Red Devils turned in a strong performance in their second match as well, turning back Penn State Altoona, 3-0. Dickinson opened with a 25-18 decision in the first set and claimed the match with two solid games, winning 25-9 and 25-11.
Bongo had a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while Misrok added two more aces to go with 21 digs. First-year Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) picked up 11 digs. Anastasiya Khlopina (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) combined for nine blocks and five kills.
Berezan raiser her season total with 21 assists, adding three blocks in the nightcap.
The Red Devils are 2-2 on the season. They travel to Goucher College on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm match with the Gophers.
