(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team finished first and second in the 400 free relay to secure a thrilling, 114-91 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall as the Red Devils celebrated Senior Day at the Kline Center.
Sophomore Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) continued her dominance in the distance freestyle events, capturing the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:45.33 and 5:22.27. She had a triple-win afternoon, coming right back after the 1,000 to claim the 200 freestyle as well, posting a mark of 2:00.75.
Sophomore Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./Breck School) and first-year Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington) added wins in the 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly, and the Devils used a number of second and third place finishes to keep pace and keep the Diplomats within striking distance.
Schmidt won the backstroke with a time of 2:11.10 and had two second-place showings in the 400 medley and free relay events. Ruhl clocked a time of 2:15.37 in the butterfly and joined both second-place relays as well.
First-year Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) finished second just behind Ruhl in the butterfly with a time of 2:15.79. She was part of the winning 400 free relay and added another silver medal performance in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.05.
Senior Emily Houser (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) gave the Red Devils a solid one-two punch in the distance events, finishing second behind Lyman in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle events with times of 11:01.71 and 5:27.16. She led-off the winning free relay as they combined for a mark of 3:46.77.
Sophomore Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) anchored the winning free relay and the second-place medley, adding a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle, posting a time of 2:05.41. Classmate Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) joined the winning free relay, placed second in the 200 in the 100 freestyle (56.65) and third in the 50-free (26.22).
First-year Madeline Callahan (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) led-off the second-place free relay and placed second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:18.07. She was third in the 200 backstroke, coming in with a mark of 2:19.38.
Senior Tanita Leary (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) anchored the second-place free relay and finished third in the 100 freestyle (57.85). Classmate Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) joined the second-place medley relay and scored third-place points in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.63).
The Red Devils improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are scheduled to travel to Gettysburg College on Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm match-up with the Bullets.
