Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) The Dickinson women's soccer team went into Wednesday's Centennial Conference match-up a little shorthanded with some key players out with injuries. The Red Devil attack put the pressure on visiting McDaniel and came away with a 3-2 victory at Miller Memorial Field.
The Red Devils rallied from an early 1-0 deficit as Katie Clawson put the Green Terror on the board in the 17th minute. First-year Ellie Harris (Cabin John, Md./Walt Whitman) answered with just under 25 minutes to play in the half, scoring off assists from senior Alexandra Goldrich (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and sophomore Elizabeth Krause (Westchester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) to pull the Devils even.
Harris returned the favor as the Red Devils had another strong build, combining with classmate Emma Moore (Davidsonville, Md./St. Mary's) to set up first-year Caitlin Fahr (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School), to put Dickinson on top with 15 minutes remaining in the opening stanza.
Krause came through early in the second to give the Red Devils what proved to be a critical insurance goal, scoring just under two minutes after the break.
Clawson looked to rally the Green Terror with another unassisted goal in the 81st minute but the Red Devils would hold on for a key conference win.
McDaniel held the advantage in shots (19-8) and corners (6-1), but the Red Devils made their attempts count as they improve to 11-4-1 and 5-3-1 in conference play. McDaniel slipped to 11-5-1 and 6-3-1 in a very tight standings race.
Sydney Kelly made five saves for McDaniel while junior Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) had a huge night, turning away 11 shots.
The Red Devils travel to Gettysburg College for the regular season finale on Saturday night. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
