Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team put up a fight against visiting Washington College, but suffered a 3-1 setback on Senior Day Saturday.
The Shorewomen survived a marathon set to start the match, holding on for a 26-24 decision. The Red Devils answered with a solid second set, winning 25-16, to even the match, 1-1.
Washington came out strong to claim the third, 25-13, and held on for the win with another tight set in the fourth, 25-23.
First-year Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) led the attack with 10 kills, adding five digs on the afternoon. Senior Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) added seven kills and five digs while junior Megan Gombatz (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) tallied six kills and senior Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) finished with five and five digs as well.
First-year Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) had another big outing with 24 digs to go with six assists and three service aces. Classmate Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 22 assists, adding four kills, two aces and seven digs.
Washington improves to 14-6 on the season and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 8-12 overall and 2-5 in the CC. Dickinson is home again on Wednesday night, hosting the University of Scranton at 7:00 pm.
