Red Devils Pull Away From McDaniel 74-56

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a big run, midway through the second half to pull away from visiting McDaniel College, 74-56, on Thursday night at the Kline Center.

The first half was back-and-forth from the start as the game saw eight ties in the opeming stanza, with Dickinson holding a 34-31 advantage at the break.

The Red Devils trailed on just three occasions in the first half, but could only build as much as a six-point lead. Junior Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) led the way, hitting a pair of three-pointers for a team-high nine points.

The second half looked as though it would duplicate the first as McDaniel pulled in front for the last time at 15:15 mark. The Red Devils put together a 12-2 run to lead by double-figures, 51-41, with 9:41 remaining in the game.

Dickinson continued to stretch the lead, extending the margin to as many as 21 in the final minutes.

Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) led all scorers with 24 points on the night, just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Melton went 9-for-12 from the field, hitting a pair of three-pointers while going 4-for-5 from the line.

Wright tallied 15 points, five rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocks while senior Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) added eight points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.

Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) chipped in with seven points and a pair of steals, and Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) gave the Red Devils quality minutes, controlling five rebounds to go with an assist and a steal.

The Red Devils shot 81.3 percent from the foul line, hitting 13-of-16 from the stripe. They improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference. Dickinson is home again on Saturday, hosting #12-ranked Swarthmore College at 4:00 pm.
