Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team posted a big Centennial Conference win over visiting McDaniel College to keep pace in the standings with a 53-50 victory on Wednesday night.
McDaniel would open the game with a three-pointer and hold the lead throughout the first half. Josh McWilliams knocked down a three-pointer and Nick Perugino added a free throw to give the Green Terror a 15-6 lead with 13:02 remaining in the first half.
The Red Devils put together a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to a field-goal at the 6:29 mark. Sophomore Harrison Brown (Huntington, W. Va./The Miller School) knocked down a three-pointer to pull the Devils within one, with just over five minutes to play before the break.
McDaniel built the lead back to six at halftime, holding a 31-25 advantage. They would stretch the margin to nine in the opening four minutes of the second half, but Dickinson came alive, rattling off 10-straight points to pull in front, 40-39, with 10:26 remaining.
Perugino countered for McDaniel, but Harrison Brown finished an assist from Jule Brown (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) with his second three-pointer of the game.
The teams were even, 45-45, before first-year Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) buried a three-pointer from the corner, knocking down an assist from Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy), to put Dickinson in front for good.
Moses Romocki (Creedmoor, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) scored off an assist from Hinckley and later stretched the lead to six with a free throw.
The Green Terror made one final push, closing the gap to one. They forced a turnover, but were unable to convert on the other end. Jule Brown came away with a big defensive rebound and hit two free throws with just nine seconds on the clock to secure the win.
McWilliams led McDaniel with 16 points as they fall to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
Romocki led the Red Devils with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists, going 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) tallied 13 points, six rebounds, adding an assist, steal and blocked shot. Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) matched Harrison Brown and Allen with six points. Jule Brown had four points, four assists and a pair of steals while Hinckley grabbed six rebounds and tallied three assists.
The Red Devils improve to 11-9 overall and 8-5 in the conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Johns Hopkins University at 4:00 pm.
