Defending Champs Top Red Devils In CC Opener

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men and women's swim teams opened competition on Saturday with a Centennial Conference match-up against visiting Ursinus College. The Bears topped the Red Devil women 119-85 while Ursinus men claimed a 123-81 decision.

Senior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) led the way for the women, winning the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:50.65 and 5:18.02. She also anchored the 400 free-relay to a second-place finish.

Junior Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) captured a win in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 54.92.

First-year Damon St. Prix (Barbados/The Peddie School, N.J.) had a great start to his collegiate career, winning the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events and placing second with the 400 free-relay. St. Prix clocked times of 49.56 and 1:48.54 in the 100 and 200, respectively.

Senior Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) won the 200 individual-medley with a time of 200:06 and anchored the second-place 400 free relay. Will Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.25 and joined the 400 medley-relay.

Senior Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added a win in the 200 butterfly and placed second in the 400 free and medley relay events.

The Red Devils are on the road next Saturday, traveling to Wilkes University for a tri-meet, joining Lebanon Valley College for a 1:00 pm start.
