Bears Win Battle of Playoff Hopefuls in Finale

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson football team went to Ursinus College with a potential postseason bowl game on the line in Saturday's regular season finale in Collegeville. The Bears, also looking for a postseason bid, would come out on top, 31-0, following a scoreless first quarter.

Special teams were the focal point of the first with both teams trading punts for the opening 15 minutes. Sophomore Trystin Golowski (Columbus, N.J./Bishop Eustace) was solid, averaging over 47 yards with two punts of over 50.

Ursinus bookended a pair of touchdowns at the start of the second quarter and just before the half to take a 14-0 lead into the break.

The Bears capitalized on good field position with the wind behind them to set up an early touchdown in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 21-0 and tacked on a 29-yard field-goal with 5:27 remaining.

Kyle Wiggins broke free for a 68-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

Sophomore Brian Snow (Media, Pa./Episcopal Academy) and senior Ethan Warrick (Herndon, Va./Langley) each tallied nine tackles to lead the Red Devil defense while Warrick added 1.5 tackles-for-loss.

James Turner (Ridgefield, Conn./Suffield Academy) and Jordan Hollander (Dalton, Pa./Abington Heights) each added eight stops. Turner tallied exactly 100 tackles on the season, moving into fourth all-time with 298 in his career.

Phillip Butler (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) ran for 88 yards while Billy Burger (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) threw for 84 yards on the day. Jake Walbert (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) led the receivers with three catches for 59 yards.

Burger finishes second all-time with 399 career completions and in career passing yards as just the second player to throw for over 4,000 (4,084). Walbert ranks third with 108 receptions and seventh all-time with 1,411 career receiving yards.

The Red Devils finish 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial Conference.
