#14 Ranked Red Devils Roll Past Red Hawks

Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #14-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team erupted with 12 goals in the third quarter to roll past visiting Montclair State in the Red Devils' home opener, 25-8, on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field.

Senior Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) had a monster game, netting nine goals and handing out a pair of assists. That matches the third-best single-game totals in program history for goals and points.

The Red Hawks struck first and were even with the Red Devils, 2-2, at the midpoint of the first quarter. Maher took over, netting four goals, including a natural hat trick to give Dickinson a 7-2 advantage at the end of the first. Classmate Tyler Strods (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) had a strong start as well, scoring once and dishing out a pair of assists.

Maher tallied back-to-back goals, early in the second to stretch the lead to 10-2 before the Red Hawks looked to rally, scoring four straight to cut the margin to 10-6.

The Devils countered with three goals to lead, 13-6, at the break. Dickinson used a balanced attack in the third quarter as 10 different players found twine to put the Devils in front, 25-7.

Brady Wulster closed out the third with a goal and tallied the only score in the fourth quarter for the final of 25-8.

In addition to Maher's 11-point effort, Strods tallied three goals and four assists while senior Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) added a hat trick and a pair of assists as well. Junior Brodie Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) dished out three assists and scored once, and Mitchell Andres (East Lyme, Conn./Berkshire) found the net twice.

Junior Bobby Hartwick (Brookeville, Md./Georgetown Prep) won 16-of-21 face-offs and controlled nine ground balls. Junior long pole midfielder Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) anchored a solid effort, causing six turnovers and picking up five GBs.

Senior goaltender Andrew Jones (Odenton, Md./Arnold) made four saves while Cole Pelicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Michael Marinelli (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) came on for the final 29 minutes.

The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They travel to #7-ranked Cabrini College for a 1:00 pm start, next Saturday.
