Red Devils Weather Storm, Diplomats for 5-2 Win

Box Score

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team spent a long time in Lancaster, sitting through a rain delay, but came out on top of Franklin & Marshall, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils came out strong, scoring three goals in the first half. Junior Ally Diez (Rockville Center, N.Y./South Side) put Dickinson on the board in the 16th minute, finishing a well-placed cross from sophomore Tara Dedrickson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake).

Junior Bryce Delaney (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Day) served a beautiful ball into the area and junior Emma Moore (Davidsonville, Md./St. Mary's) capitalized on a scrabble in front of the net, finishing a rebound to put the Red Devils up, 2-0, with just over six minutes remaining in the half.

Delaney would pick up a well-deserved assist just moments later, serving almost an identical ball to Jessica Kiefer (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle), who put the ball away, with just 2:49 on the clock.

The Diplomats struck early in the second half as Kirsten Heine intercepted a pass and found Haley Barge to cut the deficit to 3-1, 5:22 into the second half.

The teams had to wait out some thunderstorms in the second half, adding about an hour to the match. The Red Devils finished as strong as they started with Diez finding the net for the second time, scoring off an assist from Addy Zandi (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) with 20 minutes remaining, stretching the lead to 4-1.

F&M countered on a free-kick as Barge redirected a header into the net with an assist from Sarah Marsan) in the 76th minute.

The Red Devils would close things out on a Diplomat miscue as senior Killian Donohue (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) gained possession and fed Dedrickson for a 5-2 advantage with eight minutes to play.

The Red Devils unloaded 26 shots while holding the hosts to just seven on the night as Caton Raffensperger made 10 saves for the Diplomats.

Senior Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) made one save in the nets for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils improve to 6-1-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus College for a 12:00 pm start.
