Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team suffered a 75-58 setback to visiting Haverford College on Saturday.
The Red Devils had a strong start and played even with the 'Fords throughout the first half.
After trailing 7-0, Dickinson pulled even at the 15:50 mark. First-year Garrett Markey (York, Pa./York Central) hit a three-pointer and added a pair of free throws to put the Red Devils up, 18-14, at the midpoint of the half.
Sophomore Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/The Taft School, Conn.) scored back-to-back, hitting a three-pointer for a 23-17 lead with 8:24 to play in the half.
Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) added a three-pointer before Haverford finished the half with 13-4 run to lead 33-30 at the break.
A 11-0 run to start the second gave the 'Fords some breathing room as Jack Cork was strong in the paint.
Haverford continued to build on the lead over the course of the second half. The Red Devils looked to make a late run but were unable to close the margin.
Drummond led the Red Devils with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists while Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) added 11 points and four rebounds. Markey tallied eight points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Tierney controlled five rebounds to go with eight points while Chris Bates (Ellicott City, Md./Boys' Latin) finished with six points and five rebounds.
The Red Devils slip to 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Tuesday night, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 7:00 pm.
