Box Score 2 (Owings Mills, Md.) – The Dickinson volleyball team had a strong outing on Saturday, posting a pair of quality wins over unbeaten Salisbury University and Gallaudet.
The Red Devils swept the previously unbeaten Seagulls, 3-0, surviving a pair of well-fought sets in the first and third.
Dickinson held on to take the opener 25-23 and had a solid showing in the second with a 25-16 decision. Salisbury looked to extend the match, but the Red Devils turned them back once again, 25-23, to claim the match.
Sophomore Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) led the attack with 14 kills, adding a pair of blocks in the opener. Elise Butler (Chester Springs, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) added six kills and four digs.
Junior setter Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) dished out 29 assists to go with four digs, two kills and an ace. Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) tallied 13 digs, four assists and three aces.
Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) reached double-figures with 10 digs, adding two blocks and five kills. Hanna Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) and Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) each recorded five kills as well.
Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) and Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) gave the Red Devils additional defense, recording 10 and seven digs, respectively.
The Red Devils had a strong start in their second match, taking the first two sets from Gallaudet (25-12, 25-19). Dickinson looked to close out the match in the third, but the Bison forced a fourth set, 25-23.
The Red Devils kept the momentum and held off Gallaudet, 25-19, to finish the day 2-0.
Lange had another big outing with a match-high 16 kills to go with four blocks. Classmate Morgan Biggs (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) was right there, pounding out 15 kills and turning back to blocks.
Lopez tallied 21 digs while Singer picked up 17 in the nightcap and added seven kills. Albertsen was solid at the net, recording eight kills and six blocks, scoring off three solos.
Allgaier handed out 32 assists, adding three blocks, two kills and a pair of aces. Senior setter Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) came on to tally nine assists.
The Red Devils improve to 6-3 on the season. They return home to take on York College on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
