Box Score 2 (Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team had a tough outing at Muhlenberg on Saturday, falling to the host Mules, 3-0, and battling with De Sales University in a 3-2 setback.
The Mules jumped out to an early lead, taking the opening set 25-12. The Red Devils regrouped and had two strong sets but fell by identical scores in the next two sets, 25-23.
Sophomore Morgan Biggs (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) led the attack with nine kills while Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) added eight kills and pair of blocks.
Sophomore Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) tallied seven kills, three blocks and three digs in the opener while Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) added six kills and six digs.
Junior libero Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) picked up seven digs and had three assists. Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 28 assists and had seven digs as well.
The Red Devils had another scratch and claw match against De Sales to close out the day. The Bulldogs won the opening set 25-20 before Dickinson countered to pull in front 2-1, winning the second and third (25-20, 25-21).
De Sales countered to take the fourth 25-19 and held on in a thrilling fifth, 15-13.
Allgaier dished out 50 assists to go with nine digs and three service aces in the nightcap.
Three players reached double figures in kills, led by Lange with 17 kills and five block assists. Hanna Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) put away 15 kills, adding a solo block and four assists.
Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs. Albertsen finished with eight kills and three blocks.
Lopez tallied 21 digs and Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) added 11. Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) chipped in with nine.
The Red Devils slip to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Lancaster Bible College on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
