Haverford Holds On To Top Red Devils 86-75

(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a late run at Haverford, but the hosts would hold on to claim an 86-75 win on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) hit a pair of three-pointers in the opening minutes as the teams played to a 10-10 tie. Haverford put together a run to take a 27-14 lead at the midpoint of the first half.

The Fords continued to build on the lead as the teams headed into halftime. KJ Holton (Clinton, Md./DeMatha) converted a three-point play to cut deficit to 38-22 before the margin moved to 50-28 at the break.

Onye Okoro (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) gave the Red Devils some strong, minutes, scoring back-to-back field-goals, adding a pair of rebounds and a blocked shot in the final minutes of the half.

Dickinson looked to cut into the lead with early three-pointers from Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School).

Allen put together a small run of his own, converting a three-point play, recording a steal and assist and adding two more free throws at the midpoint of the second.

Mark Bowditch (Milton, Wisc./IMG Academy) knocked down a big three-pointer to pull the Red Devils within 11 at the 7:13 mark.

Allen continued to grind and keep the Red Devils in the game, hitting another triple, a lay-up and two more free throws. He drained a three-pointer from the top of the key to cut the deficit to just eight with 1:43 remaining in regulation.

Haverford was able to hold on, hitting four straight free throws to secure the win.

Allen finished with a solid line, scoring 24 points, going 9-for-9 from the line while adding five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Okoro hit 4-of-7 shots for 10 points and six rebounds while Tierney reached double-figures with 10 points and three rebounds.

Travis Dobbins (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) finished with nine points and three steals while Bowditch added eight and Holton put up seven on the afternoon.

The Red Devils slip to 2-17 overall and 2-10 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Johns Hopkins University on Thursday night at 8:00 pm.
