Red Devils Honor Allen Before Senior Day Finale

Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team suffered a tough loss to close out the season, falling to Washington College, 59-57, on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils celebrated senior Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) prior to the game after he returned to the line-up in late January and had a great finish to his career.

The game was close right from the start with the teams playing to a 7-7 tie. Washington put together an 8-0 run at the midpoint of the half and stretched the lead to 10 in the late minutes.

First-year Dan Conlan (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) knocked down a three-pointer to pull Dickinson within nine at the break.

The teams played even in the second as well with Washington holding a 50-40 lead with 12 minutes left to play.

Allen made some strong moves to the basket and Conlan hit another three-pointer to pull the Red Devils within five. First-year Travis Dobbins (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) sandwiched a pair of lay ups around a free throw from Allen to tie the game, 50-50, with just over eight minutes to play.

Dobbins countered a Washington score with a three-pointer to put Dickinson on top. After the Shoremen pulled back in front Allen went to the rim once more and first-year KJ Holton (Clinton, Md./DeMatha) gave the Devils a 57-55 lead with 3:03 on the clock.

Trey Wright hit a lay-up and Alec Lewis converted four free throws in the final 17 seconds to secure the win for Washington.

Conlan finished 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, scoring a team-high 16 points. Holton tallied 11 points and six rebounds while Allen reached double figures as well, scoring 11 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Chris Bates (Ellicott City, Md./Boys' Latin) had another strong outing with five points and five rebounds while Dobbins added seven points, three rebounds and three steals. Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) added five points and four rebounds.

The Red Devils finish the season 4-21 overall and 4-14 in the Centennial Conference. Allen became the 28th player in program history to score 1,000 career-points. He holds the school record with 33 consecutive free throws made and ranks second all-time in steals with 156.
