Devils Snap Skid and Earn First Road Win

Box Score

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Dickinson football team fell behind 10-0 early, before rallying back to knock off Juniata College 27-10 at Knox Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference play earning their first road win of the season and snapping a two-game losing skid.

Neither side could do much early in the first quarter as each team had drives end on failed fourth-down tries. With 4:41 to play Juniata took over at their own 30 and used four straight rushes by Hunter Wolfley capped off by a 52-yard scamper to take a 7-0 lead.

It would stay that way until the halfway point of the second when Noah Wright carried twice to bring the ball to the 50-yardline. Then, after a penalty against Dickinson, the Eagles setup shop at the DC29 and three runs later they found themselves at the DC22 setting up a fourth-and-three. Beckett Leary stepped up for a 39-yard kick and knocked it through for a 10-0 advantage with 4:38 left.

On the ensuing drive, the Devils got the rock moving as Diante Ball ran it down to the JC44. Then, Tim Graham hooked up with Robert Geiss for 18 yards putting DC inside the redzone for the first time on the afternoon. A couple of plays later the visitors were on the board as Geiss acting in a "wildcat" role ran it in from 13 out. The Raleigh Wynot kick would be no good leaving it 10-6 at half.

The Eagles rushing attack was on full display on their opening drive of the second-half as the combination of Charles Debose and Wolfley took it all the way down to the DC37 thanks to eight consecutive runs. It then on fourth-and-eight that JC decided to attempt a pass and that would fail miserably as Neville Krueger threw down Jason Clark for a 16-yard sack.

It would take DC until late in the third quarter to overcome the early deficit as Graham connected with Geiss for eight and Princeton Douglass for 24 to move it all the way down to the JC36. After an incompletion intended for Zyon Jenkins, Graham found Johnny Knight for a 36-yard strike and a 13-10 edge after the Wynot kick with 1:14 to play in the third.

Early in the fourth, the Devils went to work on the plus side of the 50 at the JC47. The first play of the drive saw Ball rush for 27 yards down to the JC20. Then, Graham hit Douglass for two, before hitting Knight for his second td reception of the afternoon extending the lead to 20-10 (Wynot kick).

After a quick three-and-out on the Eagles next possession Dickinson put the ball in play on the JC49. Two runs by Ball and an 11-yard pass to Andrew Reale brought the ball to the JC41. From then on it was all Ball as he would have carries of 16 and five, before taking it to the house from 10-yards out wrapping up the scoring at 27-10 (Wynot kick).

Next on the Field

The Devils head to Baltimore, Maryland next Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Johns Hopkins University.
