Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Meg Tate netted a hat-trick and Macey Mento added another one as the No. 21 Dickinson women's soccer team used a four-goal first half to knock off the host Ursinus College Bears by a final of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
The Red Devils wasted no time getting on the board as they cashed in on their first shot of the match as Tate buried one behind Mandy Carideo. Ursinus tested Sophia Kavulich at the 6:47 mark when Carlie Shiller was turned aside. In the 13th-minute the Devils made it 2-0 as Carideo denied Sophia Elguera. However, the ensuing rebound was pounded home by Mento. Their next foray into the attacking third saw the visitors extend the lead with Tate finishing off a corner kick put in by Lauren Bracken. Tate completed her hat-trick in minute 21 as she took a pass from Lily Schmitt and deposited the ball beyond Carideo. The keepers would each have to make one more save in the half with Kavulich shutting down Morgan Raley and Carideo keeping Sarah Cudmore from scoring a fifth goal.
The Bears were on the front foot to start half number two, but neither Raya Mount nor Ciara Rago was able to solve Kavulich. Dickinson recorded their first chance of the half in the 61st-minute when Allie Charnas had her shot stopped by new keeper Sydney Mandel. At the 65:58 mark Juiliana Gianni took over between the sticks for the Devils as was tested immediately by Izzy Allocco and Rago, but she followed the footsteps of her teammate Kavulich and did not let one up. DC had three more chances with Emily Dunkel and Cudmore twice stopped by Mandel. Ursinus did manage to pull one back in the 83rd-minute through Skylar Knapp, but Dickinson was able to see out the rest of the match.
