Second-Half Markers Result in Draw With Lions

CARLISLE, Pa. - In a match that was scoreless for the opening 80-plus minutes the Dickinson men's soccer team got an 86th-minute tally from Ethan Jarden, before allowing an equalizer to the visiting Penn State-Harrisburg just over a minute later resulting in a 1-1 non-conference draw at Miller Memorial Field on Wednesday night.

Both teams came out firing as Kobe Harris and Tyler Madairy forced stops out of Devils keeper Andrew Kempe, before Saul Iwowo was denied by Lions goalie Richard Lockard inside the opening four minutes. The next two chances belonged to the visitors with Kempe knocking aside shots from Marc Rodgers (20th-minute) and Katim Njie (26th-minute). Penn State had two more opportunites in the first-half with Kempe being called on once more to stop Alex Afata with 39:03 off the clock. However, Dickinson was held without a shot over the final 41 minutes to send the match to the half.

In the second half Nick Potter took over between the sticks for the Red and White and he watched offerings from Harris and Rodgers sail over his head in the first three minutes. DC finally started to find their footing in the 50th-minute as Ethan Jarden missed wide, followed by forcing a save out of Lockard at the 55:31 mark. The Devils continued to keep up the pressure with Tyson Burling missing the mark and Mack Moore pinging a header off the crossbar during the 69th. Potter would keep the game scoreless with saves on Harris (72nd-minute) and Daryl Lucas (83rd-minute). Dickinson found the breakthrough at the 85:53 mark when Johnny Diederich served a cross from the right side to the head of Jarden who beat the keeper to the near post. Unfortunately, PSU found the equalizer 66-seconds later as Luke Myers played a pass into the box that was deflected by Ethan Cortes beyond the reach of Potter to lead to the 1-1 draw.
