Devils and Hounds to do Battle Under Friday Night Lights

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson football team will look to earn a win coming out of the bye week when they take on the Greyhounds of Moravian University in a Centennial Conference showdown under the lights on Friday night at Biddle Field.

Inside the Devils Den
Last Time Out
The Devils led early 3-0 thanks to a 22-yard Matt Moroz kick, but then surrendered 12 consecutive points to the host McDaniel College to trail 12-3 at the break. Diante Ball plunged in from six out to close within 12-10. However, the Green Terror ran off nine straight to open up a 21-10 advantage en route to a 21-13 Homecoming victory at Gill Stadium in Westminster.

New Trigger Man
For the second straight game the Red and White will have a new man calling the shots under center as Rocco DiRico will start at quarterback. DiRico is coming off a 10-for-28 afternoon against the Green Terror with 88 yards and three picks. He takes over for Matt Maiona who on the season is 44-for-83 racking up 489 yards and two touchdowns. 

Top Targets
DiRico spread out his ten completions to four different receivers led by Bobby Markey who hauled in four balls for 42 yards. Johnny Knight added three grabs for 18 yards, while Ball chipped in two for nine. Tight end Devlin McCool posted one catch totaling 19 yards. Princeton Douglass is the leading pass catcher for the Devils bringing in 16 passes picking up 209 yards and a score. Bryce Peterson has contributed ten grabs racking up 169 yards with a touchdown. Leon Friebel, Nikkos Kovanes, Andrew Reale, and Adam Smith all have found their way onto the statsheet as well.

Ground Attack
Ball had a solid day on the ground against McDaniel carrying the rock 31 times for 151 yards and one TD averaging just under five yards per touch (4.9). DiRico had 11 rushes for 11 yards. Douglass has also contributed to the ground game during the season posting a dozen touches for 55 yards, while Smith has chipped in seven attempts to total 18 yards.  

Defense is Strong
Dickinson allowed just 226 total yards (58 rushing, 168 passing) to the Green Terror last time out. The Red and White are allowing their opposition to just 323.6 yards per contest which ranks fourth in the Centennial, while the 192.2 through the air has them third. Tanner Long was all over the field against McDaniel recording 17 tackles (nine solo), including 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. Justin Rocha chipped in nine stops (two tackles for loss), followed by Lewis Baer with eight. Bram Leys and James Basilii added seven and five hits respectively. The trio of Jason Hollinger, Neville Krueger, and Alex Sulin combined for a dozen tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception.   

Inside the Kennel
Moravian comes into Carlisle with a mark of 2-3 overall and a 2-2 record inside the Centennial Conference. The Greyhounds enter the game coming off a dominating 51-7 conference win over Juniata at home on October 1st. In that game the Blue and Gray showed off a balanced offense totaling 530 yards with an almost even split between the rush (246) and pass (284). Carter Hallgren is the man under center after taking over for Jared Jenkins. So far on the season, Hallgren is 33-for-64 with 262 yards, three touchdowns and four picks. Three men have double-digit catches for the Hounds led by Tim Garlick and his 310 yards on 27 catches with two scores. Brad Bryan has racked up 18 grabs for 258 yards, while Jordan Lewis has added a dozen receptions for 141 and two TDs. On the ground Nate Boyle will be the one to watch for the visitors as he has carried the ball a team-high 119 times for 537 yards and four touchdowns. Angelo Macera also has eclipsed the century mark at 105, while Jared Jenkins has 36 yards and a TD. Nick Levinski leads the Hounds defense with his 45 tackles (23 solo), including 1.5 for loss and a sack. Chad Newhard and Romello Walters are both over the 30 mark with 33 and 31 respectively, while Colin Conway has 21 to go along with a team-high five pass breakups. Zach Scillia has two interceptions to pace the team in that category.
