Inside the Devils Den
Last Time Out
The Devils used two defensive touchdowns to build up a 14-7 lead on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall. However, for the Red and White they were limited to just three points over the final two quarters as
Matt Moroz knocked through a 32-yard field goal, but it was not enough as the Diplomats came back to pick up a 28-17 win.
Rocco With the Rock
Rocco DiRico continues to lead the DC offense after going 19-for-31 on Saturday hitting five different targets for 251 yards, but tossed three interceptions. For the season he has played in five games racking up 494 yards on 43-85 attempts with three scores.
Matt Maiona has also spent time under center completing 44 of 83 attempts for just under 500 yards (489) to go along with two TDs.
Top Targets
DiRico found five different targets last week with
Johnny Knight hauling in nine passes for 132 yards.
Princeton Douglass added four grabs for 56, while
Bryce Peterson chipped in three receptions totaling 35 yards.
Diante Ball and
Andrew Reale each made a catch combining for 21 yards. Douglass has been the top target on the year reeling in 24 passes for 314 yards and two scores. Knight has 20 receptions racking up 232 yards. The duo of Ball and Peterson have accounted for 30 catches totaling 347 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Ground Attack
The Devils usually strong rushing attack was kept severely under wraps on Saturday as they tallied 26 total touches, but were only able to record three net yards. Ball carried a team-high 13 times for just six yards. DiRico used his legs ten times gaining 32 yards, however, he netted zero on the day after losing the 32 yards. This season Ball has been the top rusher for the Devils carrying 134 times for 708 yards and seven touchdowns with a 5.3 yards per carry average. Douglass has also eclipsed the century mark with 114 yards on just 21 touches.
Defense is Strong
Dickinson continues to stay inside the Top-5 in the conference in points allowed per game at 22.6 (5th), while their 301.6 yards given up per contest has them fourth. The defense has also produced a bit of a "no fly zone" ranking second in the Centennial in passing yards allowed surrendering just 171.6.
Tanner Long once again led the Devils D on Saturday racking up a team-high 11 tackles, including 1.5 stops for loss.
Bram Leys added nine hits on the day, while
Neville Krueger chipped in eight. The duo also combined for 4.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. The group of
Lewis Baer,
James Basilii,
Keon Eady, and
Alex Sulin joined together for 22 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble.
Ellis Tompkins contributed four stops and a 48-yard pick six.
Inside the Nest
Juniata arrives in Carlisle winless on the campaign with a mark of 0-7 overall, including 0-6 inside the Centennial. The Eagles are coming off a 57-12 home loss to Muhlenberg College last Saturday. Quarterback Noah Wright went 12-of-21 for 117 with a TD and a pick. For the year he is 92-199 totaling 1102 yards with eight TDs and a dozen interceptions. His favorite weapon so far on the season is Julian Jackson who has 30 receptions for 349 yards, while Sean Hakanson has chipped in 20 accounting for 187 yards. The trio of Chris Mignanelli, Dylan Sweger, and Hunter Wolfley have combined for 37 grabs and 412 yards. On the ground Wolfley is their leading rusher tallying 103 carries racking up 405 yards and one score. Defensively, Jake Matchock and Dontey Rogan each have a team-high 54 tackles, with five of them for a loss. Seth Bernstein, JR Harrison, Nigel Robertson, and Quintin Stephens all have 40 or more tackles (8.5 for loss). DiRico will need to be on the lookout for Matchock, Rogan, and Stephens who all have multiple interceptions on the season.
