Devils Win Fourth Straight Over Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. – Clair Marion recorded her third double-digit game of the year as she netted 11 points as the Red Devils leading scorer as the Red and White posted a convincing 56-36 Centennial Conference win over the rival Franklin & Marshall College at the Mayser Center on Tuesday night.

The teams traded buckets inside the opening two minutes with Kate Montgomery and Lizzie Neville scoring for their respective sides. Hope Schreiber then gave the home side their first lead with two at the stripe, before Jenna Weinstein and Montgomery each buried jumpers for a 6-4 edge at the six minute mark. After a pair of Neville free throws, Marion stuck a shot from downtown while Gina Neigel added four in the paint to double-up the Dips at 12-6 with 1:47 left in the first. An "old-school" three-point play for Neville along with a Natalie Kolb jumper sandwiched two Neigel free throws to set the score at 14-11 DC through one.

Dickinson began the second period strong as Montgomery took a Mia Kolb dish and stuck a three-pointer to spark a 6-2 run through the first five minutes with other contributions coming from Marion and Neigel to stretch the advantage to 20-13. Baskets by Jaclyn Feit and Quinn Galligan trimmed the gap to 22-17, but layups from Mia Chapman, Lindsey Hollenshead, and Kolb helped the Red and White end the half on an 8-3 stretch to head to break in front by double-figures 30-20.

Caitlin Blackman found the scoresheet and assisted a bucket for Neigel within the first minute of the third to push the advantage to 34-20, but then the scoring dried up over the following four minutes until Blackman hit her second jay of the frame (36-20). Ally Trebelev split two on the line to get the home side on the board, before Marion accounted for four of eight points during an 8-0 gallop to open up a 20-plus point lead at 44-21 inside the final minute. However, two free throws for N. Kolb and a three-ball by Lauren Rusas brought the deficit to 44-26 with ten minutes to play.

The Devils started the fourth with a bang as Weinstein stepped outside the arc to sink a long-range shot. The two teams combined to miss the next five shots until Victoria Zerbe went hard to the cup drawing the "and-one" opportunity which she would miss. That led to Hailey Cabanas pulling up for the jumper making it 49-30 with 5:55 remaining. Dickinson tallied five of the ensuing nine points as Blackman converted a three-point play, while Zerbe hit a mid-range jumper pushing it to 54-32 at the 7:23 mark. The Red and White ended the game scoring two of the final six with Zerbe recording a layup to set the final
