Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. - For the first time since the 2016-17 season the Dickinson men's basketball team is in the midst of a five-game winning streak as the Red and White put four of their five starters in double-digits as they took down the Washington (Md.) College Shoremen by a score of 78-69 on Saturday afternoon.
Dickinson came out of the blocks flying taking a 7-0 lead thanks to five points from Anthony Goeb and a layup by Chris Bates. Kedrick Frink and Tray Wright helped Washington pull within 7-4, but Andrew Gostovich, Bates, and Goeb responded with seven straight to extend the lead to 16-4 with just over five minutes gone. Precieux Tshibangu trimmed the deficit to 18-8. Gostovich answered back with consecutive triples to stretch the advantage to 24-8 at the halfway point. The two sides split the following eight points with Jack Tierney converting a pair of layups. Over the next four minutes, the game seesawed back and forth with Will Colleran, Brandon Wiercinski, and Goeb scoring for the Red and White to make it 34-17. A three-pointer by James Ziegler sparked an 11-2 run for the Shoremen that finally ended on a pair of Bates free throws leaving the Devils on top 38-28 with 96-seconds remaining. Both Nick Romeo and Goeb missed three-pointers at the end of the period to take the lead to the break.
The Devils extended their lead back to a dozen less than two minutes into the second on buckets by Ryan Robinson and Bates. Washington stormed back to within five 42-37 thanks to a 7-0 run as Frink, Romeo, and Tshibangu hit the bottom of the net. The runs continued as DC responded with a 9-2 charge with Drew Haueisen, Bates, Goeb, and Robinson all contributing to open the lead out to 51-39 still with 13:20 to play. A pair of Zielinski triples helped the home side to close the gap to 56-47, before Ismael Baqai knocked down a shot from distance to pump energy into the gym as Washington made it 56-50 at the halfway point. Dickinson kept the Shoremen at bay with buckets from Colleran, Haueisen, and Robinson helping to bump the margin to ten, 65-55 at the 12:18 mark. One of the biggest moments in the game came with just under seven minutes remaining when the Devils missed three shots and tracked down three offensive rebounds which resulted in a Goeb triple to hold the lead at ten, 68-58. The Shoremen would not go quietly as they mounted an 11-3 run thanks to five points coming on the charity line to close within 71-69 still with four minutes left. That would be the last time we would hear from the home team as they went 0-7 down the stretch, while Gostovich, Robinson, and Tierney tallied for the Red and White for the 78-69 final.

Dickinson (8-9, 7-5 Centennial) will begin a four-game homestand starting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they welcome the Bullets of Gettysburg College to the Kline Center. Gettysburg (13-7, 9-5 Centennial) is coming off a thrilling 79-77 road win on Saturday over Ursinus thanks to a buzzer-beating layup by Carl Schaller.

The Devils trailed by 13 with just over six minutes remaining back on January 20th and used a 16-6 run to close with 63-60, but could not get all the way back as the Bullets held on for a 69-63 win. DC was led by Goeb who dropped 19, while Robinson chipped in 13.
