Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Dickinson baseball team will be sad to leave the sunny warmth of Florida as they wrapped up their spring break trip with a 6-1 mark after earning a sweep of Ramapo College on Friday by scores of 8-3 and 9-2 at Lake Myrtle Park.
Game One - DEVILS 8, Ramapo 3
W - Ethan Hamilton (1-1) | L - James Garthaffner (1-2)
Inside The Game
Dickinson took command right from the word go in game one as they batted around in the opening inning against the starter Garthaffner working four walks, one hit batter, and three hits coming off the sticks of Lukas Atsalis (2) and Tyler Scaff (1) to take an impressive 8-0 lead. The Roadrunners chipped away in the home half against Hamilton with a double by Tyler Guadagno leading to an RBI knock for Brian Baranok. Three batters later it would be 8-2 when Matt Lalomia singled to left. Hamilton fanned Harold Calero to end the rally.
The bats went cold for DC over the next couple of innings as the reliever DJ McGuinness set them down in order three straight times, leading to the Roadrunners pulling one back in the last of the fourth when Guadagno plated the runner with a two-out single to center. Baranok went down on strikes to retire the side.
As the game moved to the seventh at 8-3 Ramapo tried to mount a comeback against the Devils Joey Sangiuolo as they filled the bags with two away, but Lalomia flew out to center to end the game.
Game Two - DEVILS 9, Ramapo 2
W - Brian Riley (3-0) | L - Troy Karaty (0-2)
Inside the Game
For the second game in a row, DC went right to work in the first as Atsalis, Luke Jackson, and Cole Hare provided three straight singles to fill the bags for Tom Gannaway with one gone. He ripped a single to left that was misplayed by the fielder allowing all three to come in. Kaden Sigmon drove in Gannaway two men later for the 4-0 edge after one.
Riley allowed a two-out double to Sean Donaghue, but a groundout by Joe Wisniewski wrapped up the inning. A Kenny Tagliareni double, Atsalis single, and free pass to Jackson loaded the bases for Hare. He drove in one with a walk which led to John Higgins taking over on the hill for Karaty. Dickinson took advantage of the new pitcher with three consecutive batters reaching to drive in three more runs to stretch the lead to 8-0 through two.
Two singles put men on the corners for the Roadrunners with two gone in the top-half of the third, but once again Riley was able to pitch around the potential trouble with another strikeout. The Red and White added one more in the home-half with Atsalis plating Tagliareni who started the inning with a walk.
The Devils ran into some difficulty during the fifth as Ramapo loaded the bags with one down for Joseph Marte who worked a walk to score one. That brought Peyton Fox into the game and after surrendering a bases-loaded walk of his own he got Jesse Swartout to strikeout to end allow no more damage.
Ramapo put two runners on over the final two innings, but they would get no further than first as Fox got Swartout to groundout to Sigmon to end the game at 9-2.
