Devils Fall in Ted Coghlin Tournament Consolation Game

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Dickinson men's basketball team returned to the Harrington Auditorium floor on Sunday afternoon to take part in the consolation game of the Ted Coghlin Memorial Tournament at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Today's opposition was another stiff one in the form of the seventh-ranked Ephs of Williams College and unfortunately for the Red and White they were unable to come out on the better side of a 64-32 final score.

Things started off okay for the Devils as buckets from Aaron Bailey, Isaiah Edmond and Nate Ogbu left the score knotted a 6-6 with 4:04 off the clock. That was when the Ephs started to seize control of the game as a layup for Nate Glatzer sparked a 15-2 run finished off by a three-ball for Nate Karren to take a 21-8 advantage. A triple for Skyler Venezia along with a layup from Ogbu cut the deficit to ten at 23-13 still with six minutes remaining. However, treys out of the hands of Alex Lee and Ben McGraw opened the margin back out to 31-13, before four points by Ogbu as well as a jumper for Drew Haueisen helped DC to get the lead down to 33-19 at the one minute mark. Brandon Roughley ended the scoring for the half with a layup prior to the horn for the 35-19 lead through 20-minutes.

Ogbu began the second period strong for the Red and White tallying the first five Dickinson points, while knocked home a jumper to leave the score at 39-26 with just over three minutes off the clock. Three points each from Brandon Arnold and Alex Stoddard surrounded a jump shot for Ogbu making it 45-28 still with 15:35 left. Over the next ten plus minutes the Ephs would embark on a 15-2 romp as DC missed 13 of their next 14 shots to fall behind 60-30. Six more points were scored over the final minute as Matt Devine and Tyler Van Gorp tallied for Williams, while Tyler Lawrence posted the final bucket for Dickinson and the game to set the 64-32 final result.
