Two Devils Notch Double-Doubles in Win Over Mules

CARLISLE, Pa. - Junior Lindsey Hollenshead and sophomore Caitlin Blackman each hauled in 11 rebounds and recorded double-digit points as the Dickinson women's basketball team picked up a convincing 56-38 Centennial Conference win over Muhlenberg College at the Kline Center on Wednesday night.

The visitors were out of the gates first with a triple from Abigail Scheidel and a pair of free throws for Emily Unger giving them a 5-2 edge with two minutes gone. Dickinson responded with the next seven coming from Mia Kolb and Kate Montgomery to climb ahead 9-5 at the 6:32 mark. After two on the line from Jenna Stockfeder, the Red and White got a trey from Clair Marion followed by a jay for Blackman to wrap-up the first at 14-7.

For the second straight quarter the Mules began things with a three-pointer dropping in from Emily Vaughan. Megan Winters and Kolb then exchanged baskets to keep DC in front by four (16-12). Six of the next eight went to the hosts as Marion buried another shot from downtown, while Mia Chapman added three points of her own to open the margin up to 22-14 with 2:07 left. Muhlenberg closed on a 4-0 push to gain some much needed momentum as they went to the break trailing 22-19.

Dickinson came out flying to open the third as buckets for Hollenshead and Marion led to a 9-0 run over the opening three minutes to extend the margin to 31-19. Scores by Margaux Eripret, Scheidel and Unger made it 32-23 with the half the period remaining. Four quick points for Jenna Weinstein along with tallies from Kolb and Marion resulted in a 7-3 gallop to make it 39-26. Muhlenberg ended the frame with layups by Riley Cassidy and Rachel Saxton trimming it down to 39-30 with ten minutes to play.

The two sides exchanged buckets over the first three minutes of the period with Devils points coming from Blackman, Hollenshead and Marion to open the lead up to a dozen at 46-34. A layup by Caroline Horst accounted for one of the final two Mules baskets of the night as DC mounted an 8-2 run over the rest of the game with Indatou Ali-Goukoye, Blackman, and Hollenshead all hitting the bottom of the net to set the 56-38 result.
