CARLISLE, Pa. - The duo of
Anna Gnagey and
Tori May claimed a combined three wins on Friday evening, but it would not be enough for the Dickinson women's swimming team as they fell 127-77 to the visiting Messiah University Falcons in their first home meet of 2024 inside the Clarke Aquatic Center.
The meet began with the team of
Olivia Abbott-Havers,
Sydney Farling,
Sarah McHenry and Gnagey clocking in at 4:17.11 for second place in the 400-yard medley relay. The other Dickinson unit comprised of
Lillie Deaton Connor,
Bella Gerkin,
Sarah Mulcahy and Isobell O'Connell wrapping up in 4:31.19 for fourth.
May claimed the Devils first win of the day by besting the field during the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:44.09, while teammate
Molly Whitaker claimed third (19:42.23).
The 200-yard freestyle saw Abbott-Havers secure the middle spot in the Top-3 by hitting the wall in 2:05.22.
Carolyn Wolujewicz and
Annelyse Warner rounded out the competing members of the Red and White posting marks of 2:14.60 and 2:21.28.
Only two Dickinson athletes did battle in the 50-yard freestyle as
Norah Wilson seized fifth (27.00), followed by Farling in seventh (28.47).
Emma Johnston was strong for the Devils during 200-yard individual medley finishing in second with a 2:20.81 with Gerkin falling just outside the Top-5 in sixth (2:39.11).
Connor and Mulcahy picked up spots two (2:24.37) and three (2:29.79) in the 200-yard butterfly.
Three Devils swam together during the 100-yard freestyle as O'Connell (1:00.68), Wilson (1:00.91) and Wolujewicz (1:02.20) held down slots five through seven.
May grabbed her second victory of the meet in the 200-yard backstroke posting a 2:11.40, while McHenry clocked in at 2:19.14 for third.
Dickinson put up a "one-two" finish for the 500-yard freestyle with Gnagey locking down her win thanks to a 5:24.56, followed by Johnston in second (5:29.00). Warner also took part in the event getting to the wall in 6:15.81 (5th).
Farling led a quartet of DC athletes in the 200-yard breaststroke by claiming third (2:42.20), edging out teammates Mulcahy (4th - 2:45.27), Whitaker (5th - 2:47.83) and Gerkin (6th - 2:50.45).
The final event of the night saw the unit of Abbott-Havers, Gnagey, McHenry and Wilson take second during the 200-yard freestyle relay, besting the other Devils group of Johnston, May, O'Connell and Wolujewicz in third (1:51.74).

Dickinson (1-6) gets right back to work tomorrow morning at 11 am when they make the short drive over to Grantham for a rematch with the Messiah University Falcons.
