LANCASTER, Pa. - First-year midfielder
Lauren Ervin tallied her first goal in a Dickinson kit in the 69th-minute on Wednesday afternoon to help the Dickinson women's soccer team continue their march up the Centennial Conference table with a 1-0 win over Franklin & Marshall College at Tylus Field.
- Each team had a look within the first ten minutes as Grace Craig sent an attempt wide of the Dickinson net patrolled by Sophia Kavulich, while at the other end Ava Prisco was shutdown by Lucy Fleming.
- F&M recorded three of the next four chances, but neither was able to test Kavulich as the match approached the final ten minutes of the period.
- Off a corner kick in the 37th-minute, the Diplomats would have two quality looks at net with Alex Wilson ringing the crossbar, before Kavulich had the answer for Kate Boujoukos.
- The Devils would task Fleming with posting two more saves prior to the end of the frame as she denied Lila Brown in the 39th, before shutting down Ellie Nordwind during the final minute.
- Kavulich was called upon to keep things at 0-0 during the 57th as she stopped an offering by Boujoukos.
- The Devils then went on the attack with Bridget Merkel and Ervin forcing saves from Fleming in the 63rd and 67th respectively.
- Dickinson finally found a breakthrough in minute 69 as a long ball came to Brown who headed a ball at Fleming who pushed it up into the crossbar. However, the ball fell down to Ervin who finished it off for the 1-0 lead.
- The Diplomats fired four more shots over the remainder of the match, but none of the chances from Colleen Ferrarese, Katherine Finnerty, Dahlia Pepe and Boujoukos bothered Kavulich as the match came to an end.
