Devils Clipped by #18 Bears on Senior Day

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team allowed two first quarter goals to the visiting Ursinus College about seven minutes apart, before stemming the tide and holding the fort for the remaining 45 minutes. Unfortunately, for the Red and White those two markers would be enough as the 18th-ranked Bears posted a 2-0 conference win on Saturday afternoon at the Biddle Field Complex. Prior to the game the Devils honored their six seniors: Anna Snyder, Jackie Smith, Emma Snyder, Abby Hill, Becca Woods and Sammi Moonay for their contributions to the program.

Template - 1st Quarter
  • The Bears would make the first shot of the game count as just 80-seconds in Kirsten Johnson carried the ball down the left and sent a shot past DC keeper Taylor Morrow.
  • Dickinson tried to answer back two minutes later, but Adriana Palldinetti denied Becca Woods.
  • Ursinus tallied the next five shots with Morrow notching two more stops, before Marie Brainard scored off a penalty corner in the ninth minute.
  • Megan McClure got one final look for the Red and White in the 13th which trickled wide of cage.
Template - 2nd Quarter
  • Dickinson was on the attack early earning two corners within the first minute plus, but recording no shots.
  • Following an offering by Maggie Carson that went off target, Morrow was called into action shutting down Mary Lauren Franz with 22 minutes gone.
  • Over the ensuing three minutes the home side would earn a pair of penalty corners resulting in shots from Erin Liggio, Malena Malka Goldman, Natalie Slusser and Nicole Uebele forcing a pair of Palldinetti stops.
  • The rest of the frame saw UC take six corners and fire seven shots leading to three saves for Morrow as well as a defensive stop by Smith to keep it at 2-0 through 30 minutes.
Template - 3rd Quarter
  • Dickinson's defense was on full display during the period as the Bears recorded the first ten shots of the frame tasking Morrow with making four more stops to keep DC in the matchup.
  • At the other end of the pitch Uebele was shutdown by Palldinetti on the Devils lone chance.
Template - 4th Quarter
  • Each team notched a shot inside the opening five minutes with Franz going wide for UC, while Palldinetti turned aside an offering from McClure.
  • Both goalies were called upon with less than eight minutes to play as Morrow closed the door on Franz and Palldinetti had the answer for Liggio.
  • The Bears would go in search of a decisive third goal just prior to the end of the game, but Morrow denied Franz and Smith cleared the chance for Lauren Sieczkowski off the line.
