ARLINGTON, Va. - The Dickinson men's basketball team put three players in double-figures on Saturday afternoon against the host Marymount University. However, the Red and White fell behind by 13 at half and were not able to overcome the deficit as the Saints held on for a 72-58 win at Converse Family Fieldhouse.
- A three-ball for Brandon Wiercinski and layup by David Petrusev off a a Wiercinski feed had the Devils ahead 5-4 with four minutes gone.
- Miles Phillips would hit from deep to kickoff a 10-0 spurt capped by Isaac Harris finishing off the three-point play to make it 14-5 home team at the halfway point of the period.
- Layups from both Aaron Bailey and Juan Ruiz helped DC to trim the gap by one to 17-9 with 13:53 gone.
- An 11-2 run by the Saints followed to blow the lead out to double-digits (28-11) with just over two minutes left.
- Free throws for Ryan Leskauskas and Wiercinski coupled with a Bailey tip-in off a Leskauskas miss left the Red and White behind 31-18 after 20 minutes.
- Dickinson opened up the half strong with Isaiah Edmond, Petrusev and Wiercinski scoring the first six to make it 31-24.Â
- Following four in a row by the Saints (35-24), Joey Dopirak and Edmond responded with six more to close within 35-30 with 16:09 left.
- Muhsin Muhammad, Marcus Stubbs, Harris and Phillips would help to stretch the hosts lead out to double-digits again at 49-36 still with over a dozen minutes remaining.Â
- Another Wiercinski triple along with buckets for Bailey and Petrusev continued to keep DC hanging around 53-45.
- The duo of Joshua Hughes and Stubbs accounted for eight of the ensuing dozen points to open up the 61-49 lead.
- Leskauskas, Petrusev and Wiercinski kept fighting for the Devils, but the Saints would never allow the lead to drop back under ten points as they finished off the 72-58 win.
