Top-Seeded Blue Jays End Devils Season in CC Semifinal

BALTIMORE - The fourth-seeded Dickinson women's soccer team gave it all they could on Friday night against the top-seeded Johns Hopkins University, but unfortunately for the Red and White their season would come to an end with a 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays in the Centennial Conference Tournament Semifinals at Homewood Field.
Template - 1st Half
  • Neither side was able to get much going through the opening five minutes as the match was primarily contested in the midfield.
  • The next segment of five minutes saw the home side get a shot from Carrie McIntire that was swallowed up by DC keeper Sophia Kavulich, before Olivia Piraino played a pass to Katie Sullivan who sent a high looping shot over the head of Kavulich into the net.
  • Hopkins continued to press forward getting chances from Megha Salvi and Sullivan stopped by Kavulich, while Maria Romo-Nichols was blocked by the defense with 20 minutes gone.
  • Dickinson then found some offensive footing tallying the next three shots and forcing one save from Allyson Shick thanks to Ava Prisco, Maddie St. Amand and Katie Vassilakos.
  • The home side notched six consecutive shots after that tasking Kavulich with making three more stops to keep it 1-0 at the half.
Template - 2nd Half
  • The opening ten-plus minutes did not see either side get close enough to take a shot until with 10:15 gone St. Amand launched one from outside the 18-yardbox, but it sailed well over the net.
  • Just about a minute later the Jays would fly back down the pitch and record a shot of their own from Olivia Redden, but the defense was there to clear the line.
  • The Red and White had a chance to draw level a few minutes later, unfortunately, the offering for Prisco just missed to the near post.
  • That gave the home team an opportunity to record the ensuing eight shots with Salvi and Sullivan able to slip one beyond the reach of Kavulich to make it 3-0 with about 15 minutes to play.
  • St. Amand notched the final chance of the match for the Devils, but Shick was there to cover it up ending the match.

Template - Next
  • Dickinson (11-5-3) will now turn their attention towards the 2025 season. The Red and White will return a very solid core of athletes and with a talented influx of recruits things are only looking up for Head Coach Ted Zingman and the Devils.
