CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team put on a strong defensive performance on Saturday afternoon against the visiting Misericordia University as the Red and White allowed just two points in the first quarter and caused 28 turnovers en route to claiming a 55-36 non-conference win at the Kline Center.
- Scoring was slow early on as over the first three minutes a pair of Clair Marion buckets were the only points.
- After an Ava Cirigliano jumper made it 4-2, the Devils scored the final eight points as baskets by Abby John, Ella Smith and Marion made it 12-2 thru ten minutes.
- The Cougars ended the period going 1-11 from the floor and closed by missing their final five shots..
- Dickinson would extend the gap to 11 (15-4) with 1:14 gone on points from Gabby Smelcer and Jenna Weinstein.
- Misericordia then found their footing offensively as the trio of Jordan Carmosino, Jocelyn Grosch and Cirigliano embarked on an 11-4 prowl to bring the Cougars within 19-15 inside of the final three minutes.
- Marion notched four of the remaining six points in the frame to let Dickinson take a 23-17 lead to the break.
- The Red and White used the first three minutes of the period to push the advantage back up over ten with with Clare Cronley, Smith and Weinstein making it 28-17.
- A three-ball for Carmosino took three off the deficit, but triples from Lizzie McGrath and Marion allowed DC to open the gap out to 36-22 at the halfway point.
- The teams shared the final eight points with Grosch accounting for the visitors baskets, while Emma Landes and Marion tallied for the Devils leaving the score at 40-26.
- Dickinson took command early with an 8-1 run on buckets from Cronley, Marion and Smith (48-27).
- Following a score for Caitlin Landgraf, steals by Marion setup a pair of fastbreak baskets by Weinstein to make it 52-29 with just under three minutes to go.
- Molly Heron and Esther Nlebemuo capped off the scoring for the Red and White setting the 55-36 final.
