NEW YORK - The Dickinson men's basketball team finished off their two day venture through the Big Apple by collecting their second straight win knocking off the host Baruch College by a score of 66-61 on Sunday afternoon.
David Petrusev once against led the Red and White in scoring with 27, while the duo of
Cole Cosby and
Isaiah Edmond dropped 13 and 10 respectively.
- Petrusev accounted for all six DC points through the opening five minutes as the visitors led 6-5.
- Baskets for Nicholas Lam and Gerard Nicholson made it 9-6 BC, but then the Devils got hot from long-range as Matt Mahoney and Cosby (2) each hit to help DC go ahead 21-11 with under ten minutes left.
- Dylan Minnick then started a 9-0 Bearcats charge ending on a finish by Trevon Coppin making the score 22-21 home side at the 12:53 mark.
- Cosby drilled his third three-ball of the half to stall the push, before Minnick collected three of his own to leave the Cats ahead 25-24.
- Charlie Lynch, Luis Ruiz, Brandon Wiercinski, Edmond and Petrusev led a 13-6 run to close out the frame with the Red and White in front 37-31.Â
- Dickinson continued to open up their lead by scoring nine of the first dozen points with contributions coming from Juan Ruiz, Petrusev and Wiercinski (46-33).
- Triples from Jack Gordon and Lam coupled with a layup for Minnick cut the deficit down to 46-41 with six minutes gone.
- Free throws for Petrusev and J. Ruiz did just enough to keep the guests on top as the Bearcat duo of Coppin and Lam cut the margin to just one at 50-49 with 8:35 to play.
- Three straight baskets by Petrusev stretched the lead to 56-51, but ten straight BC points aided primarily by six consecutive foul shots made it 61-56 Bearcats with under four left.
- From then all it was all Devils as the group of Cosby, Edmond, Petrusev and Wiercinski embarked on a 10-0 run of their own to cap off the 66-61 final.Â
