HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey scored two goals in both the first and third quarters and played stellar defense all afternoon long to earn their second consecutive win by blanking the host Juniata College Eagles, 4-0 at Knox Stadium at Saturday afternoon.
Â
- Following an early stop by Taylor Morrow on Lillian Case, the Devils made it 1-0 in the fifth minute when Erin Liggio found Nicole Uebele for the finish.
- After Megan McClure was shutdown by Eagles keeper Amanda Puza the Red and White pushed it to 2-0 before the match was eight minutes old as Becca Woods hit Liggio for her first of two on the day.
- Dickinson would earn four penalty corners and record two more shots both by Natalie Slusser, but would not bother Puza again.Â
- To begin the period Kara Stringfellow took over in cage for JC, and she would watch Case immediately test Morrow who was up to the task just over a minute in.
- Dickinson then had the next two chances with Sophia Pereira rolling a shot past Stringfellow with a chance to make it 3-0, but Morgan Martin was there to sweep it off the line.
- The Eagles had the final three shots of the quarter with Colleen Creneti firing off target twice, while Case was shutdown by Morrow with just six seconds left.Â
- The Red and White were on the attack immediately to open up the frame with Uebele missing the cage in the first minute, before then playing provider for Liggio's second of the day and a 3-0 edge.
- A corner in the 36th minute would lead to the fourth marker of the contest as Pereira inserted a corner that eventually worked its way to Woods who setup McClure for the tally.
- Following that goal Puza was re-inserted into the cage by Juniata and she was called upon right away to make a pair of stops against Lucy Brown to send the game to the fourth.
- Olivia Croshaw replaced Morrow to open things up for DC.
- She would not have anything to do however, as the Devils would take the only two shots of the period with Liggio and Uebele each forcing a save out of Puza to close out the game.
