CARLISLE, Pa. - For the first time since the final day of August the Dickinson volleyball team tasted defeat on Wednesday night as the visiting Messiah University Falcons upended the Red and White by a score of 3-0 in non-conference action at the Kline Center.
- Dickinson took an early 5-4 lead thanks to kills from Lillian Bigsby, Cassidy Davis and Amelia Kim.
- The two sides then traded the next eight points to keep DC ahead 9-8.
- Julia Bowen then started a 9-5 run for the Falcons which ended on a kill from Sarah Hart to make it 17-14.
- Jessica Currie, Willow Palmer, Mallie Thomas, Eliette Whittaker and Davis pushed hard for the Devils to eventually get back to even 20-20.Â
- Unfortunately, Makenzie Adams and Katie Quesenberry closed the frame with five straight for the 25-20 win.
- Things were tight early with Camille Dofiles, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker supplying the DC offense as the score read 7-7.
- Six of the next eight went the way of the visitors as Currie and Whittaker put away kills to leave DC behind 13-9.
- After three in a row for Dickinson cut it down to 13-12, Chayney Barnhart, Bowen and Quesenberry embarked on a 12-3 set-ending run (25-15).
- A Thomas kill was the only Devil point in the first six as Messiah led 5-1.
- Two kills each by Emery Fishbach and Kim along with solo points from Davis, Dofiles, and Whittaker helped DC cut the deficit to one at 10-9.
- Four straight by the Falcons made it 14-9, but the quartet of Currie, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker kept the Red and White within striking distance 20-17.
- Fishbach and Whittaker accounted for the final Dickinson points of the match as Messiah ended on a 5-3 push to take the 25-20 victory.

- Dickinson (4-4) continue their homestand on Saturday with their second home tri-match of the season. First, the Red and White will take on Bryn Athyn College at 11am, before squaring off with Immaculata University at 3pm.
