CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team put forth an offensive flurry all night against the visiting Muhlenberg College on Saturday night as the Red and White held a 32-7 advantage in shots, including 14-0 on goal. A 19th-minute goal from
Bridget Merkel would be all the Devils needed on the evening to secure a 1-0 conference win at Miller Memorial Field.
- Dickinson was on the attack early tallying four shots in the opening eight minutes with Bridget Merkel, Ava Prisco and Maddie St. Amand missing the mark, while Lauren Ervin was denied by Megan Stairs.
- The Devils pressure was finally rewarded in the 19th minute when Merkel put on a dribbling clinic through the Mules defense, before stashing the ball in the upper corner for the 1-0 advantage.
- After an attempt by Rose Larner sent one over the net patrolled by Sophia Kavulich, Erivn, Prisco and St. Amand all ripped shots towards goal forcing Stairs into a pair of stops.
- The Red and White just kept on firing away racking up seven more shots over the final 15 minutes with Stairs notching five more stops as the match went to the half.
- Dickinson held a 16-1 edge in shots over the opening 45 minutes.
- Both sides were stymied by the post early on as both Larner and St. Amand rang the iron within the opening five minutes.
- Following chances from Lucy Atwood and Stella Del Sordo that went wide, the Devils recorded the ensuing eleven shots with Stairs shutting down Lila Brown, Madison Mobray, Merkel and Prisco to keep it at 1-0 into the 70th.
- Ivy Dias and Larner combined for three shots, but did not scare Kavulich.
- Emily Dunkel and Ervin kept pushing for the Red and White to find an insurance marker, but were unable to come up with it as the match ended 1-0.
