Devils Entertain 10th-Ranked Yellowjackets in Season Opener

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson football team will get their highly anticipated 2024 campaign underway on Friday night at Biddle Field when they welcome the tenth-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College for the Home Opener on Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. Kickoff is slated for 6pm.

Schedule Overview
  • The first four weeks of the season see the Red and White alternating between home and away contests as they head to New Jersey next weekend for a matchup with William Patterson University, before hosting Kean University on Saturday, September 21st at 1pm. The Battle for the Conestoga Wagon trophy comes up next on October 5th at 1pm in Lancaster against Franklin & Marshall College.
  • A home game versus McDaniel College on October 19th (1pm) is stuck between road tips to Christopher Newport University and 21st-ranked Muhlenberg College on 10/12 (1pm) and 10/26 (1pm) respectively.
  • The Devils 2024 Homecoming game is for Saturday, November 2nd at 1pm in the annual Battle for the Bucket with Gettysburg College.
  • After a visit to eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins University on 11/9 (1pm), the Red and White end the regular season by honoring their seniors on November 16th at 1pm versus Ursinus College.
Returning All-Conference Performers The Offensive General Pass Catchers
  • Two of Egbers favorite targets return in Bobby Markey and Ball. Markey led the Devils in 2023 with 454 yards and five touchdowns on 22 catches, while Ball added 27 grabs for 271 yards and a trio of TDs.
  • The group of Kellen Boyer, Keesean Campbell, Frederik Fjeldseth and Leon Friebel will look to add onto their combined 12 receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
  • A talented group of first-years will look to make an impact in their rookie season for the Red and White.
Rushing Attack
  • Ball is back to build upon his All-Conference output from last year when he totaled 1078 yards and seven TDs on 204 carries.
  • Egbers will also contribute to the ground attack following his 93 rushes for 409 yards and eight scores.
  • The duo of senior Alex Merrifield and first-year Cedric Benning III will try to add stability to the backfield as well.
Defense Helps as Well
  • Leading tackler James Basilii is back after posting 72 tackles to go along with two picks, two pass break-ups and a fumble recovery.
  • Leys will attempt to reach double-digit sacks in 2024 following a team-high six last season. For the year, he finished with 67 stops and seven quarterback hits, while causing a pair of fumbles.
  • The unit of John Prochniak, Jeremy Reid, Brendan Walker and Sulin will all be relied on heavily after tallying 50 or more tackles in 2023 to go along with a combined ten pass break-ups and three interceptions. 
The Yellowjackets Nest
Randolph-Macon arrives in Carlisle ranked tenth in the national preseason poll after going 13-1 overall and a flawless 7-0 mark in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference advancing all the way to the NCAA Tournament Semifinal where they fell at home 49-14 to SUNY Cortland.  

The Yellowjackets will be under new offensive leadership as 2500-yard and 24 touchdown passing quarterback Drew Campanale has graduated to be replaced by 6-foot, 2-inch senior Dante Casciola. He will be looking to hand the rock off to the duo of Kwesi Clarke and Mitchell Johnshon who combined for 203 touches and 943 yards with 27 touchdowns. After graduating their top three receivers Cullen Martin, Holden Hodge and Landon Farriss will be tasked with replacing their contributions as the quartet joined together for 817 yards and five TDs.
 
Randolph-Macon's defense will be led by the unit of Jackson Deaver, Wade Grubbs and Neftali Reyes who all posted 60 or more tackles with Deaver and Reyes pacing the crew with 78 and 72 respectively. Brandon Evans is back to head-up the secondary following a season with 47 tackles to go along with seven pass break-ups, three interceptions and forcing a fumble.
