Rough Second Half Lets #10 Yellowjackets Get Better of Devils in Opener

Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson football team ended the first 30 minutes of football on Friday feeling pretty good as they took a 14-7 lead into the locker room against the tenth-ranked Randolph-Macon College Yellowjackets. However, after halftime it was all visitors as they outscored the Red and White 40-7 over the remaining two periods to claim a 47-21 non-conference win at Biddle Field.

  • Following some early punts for both sides, the visitors took over at the DC45 with 4:49 to play in the period and using a solid combination of passes and runs advanced down to the DC33 staring down a 4th-and-9. Which was when the duo of Julien Devlin and Ojoo Macapiyo sacked Dante Casciola to stop the drive.

  • The Red and White began the frame with the ball and following a rush by Diante Ball and completion to Ball from Presley Egbers stared at 1st-and-10 on the RMC12. Unfortunately, Ball would be striped on the 8-yardline to end the possession.
  • Following an RMC punt, passes to Kellen Boyer, Rocco DiRico and Bobby Markey helped the Devils advance all the way down to the RMC9. That was when Egbers found Frederik Fjeldseth for a nine-yard TD strike making it 7-0 (Justin Worobel kick).
  • RMC had a quick answer though as Casciola found Jason Moore for 48 yards to kickoff a six-play TD drive ending with a five-yard keeper for Casciola.
  • Dickinson responded in a big way needing just two plays to recapture the lead thanks to a 58-yard TD pass by Egbers to DiRico (Worobel kick) for a 14-7 lead at the break.
Template - 3rd Quarter
  • The Yellowjackets would sting the Devils early in the period as three Dickinson turnovers led to RMC scoring 19 straight points in the opening 7:42 to jump ahead 26-14 through three.
Template - 4th Quarter
  • RMC made it 33-13 one play into the frame as Cameron Chatman plunged in from a yard out to close out a 10-play, 73-yard march.
  • Later on in the quarter the score became 40-14 when the visitors used eight consecutive runs to find the endzone.
  • On the ensuing DC possession, passes from Egbers to Boyer, DiRico and Fjeldseth advanced the rock to the RMC1, where Cedric Benning III romped in making it 40-21 (Worobel kick).
  • The Jackets set the final score on their next drive with Chatman going home from a yard out.
